Ben Bradburn joined Friendship Place as Director of Individual and Corporate Giving in the summer of 2009, after close to six years i n development and external relations at the Washington National Cathedral.
Prior to working in membership and fundraising programs for the Cathedral, Ben worked in business, primarily in pro ject management and business development, in New York City. His last position there was in new product development at American Express Company, where he worked on a team that developed charge cards and services for the company’s most affluent card members.
Following September 11, 2001, and a move to Washington, DC, he decided to switch to the nonprofit sector, eventually joining the staff of National Cathedral. He first learned of Friendship Place from getting to know a number of its consumers as a resident of Woodley Park and as a volunteer at St. Columba’s Water Ministry. He and his wife, Lisa, began giving to Friendship Place after receiving a copy of the Reaching Out newsletter and reading about the successful transitions of many consumers from homelessness to living in permanent supportive housing.
An avid gardener and hiker who also loves to savor all things maritime (history, seafood and sailing), Ben and Lisa live in the neighborhood, where they try to keep up with their fast-moving daughter, Phoebe!
